GPE Charity Bike Ride puts team effort into action

60 riders from across the industry were thrilled to raise an impressive £82,000 for The Willow Foundation and The Evelina London Children’s Hospital at Guys and St Thomas Hospital NHS. In this challenging biking event – held for the second time – architects, lawyers, engineers and contractors came together to cycle 150 miles from Bournemouth to London in just over two days.

As well as being a very enjoyable few days on the road with sweeping views of New Forest National Park and the challenging terrain of the Chiltern Hills it was a great example of the success that can be achieved through close collaboration and team work.

"Aside from raising significant sums of money for very worthy charities, the focus of the event is very much on a team effort, demonstrating what can be achieved when we all work together, supporting one another in what is for many a significant personal challenge. All in all, a superb event, turn up, ride your bike and catch-up with a host of friends and colleagues from the industry all whilst raising cash for charity – what’s not to like! Thank you for letting me be part of it."

In support of the riders taking to the roads, a team of 42 colleagues also powered their way through nearly 200 miles on exercise bikes in the office whilst tracking live progress of the road riders on screen.

This was the second time that the GPE Bike Ride has been successfully completed, with 60 riders having previously cycled from Ross-on-Wye to London in 2015 and raising £70,000 for charity in the process.
